LEAD Curriculum
Personal Development at AIM North London is fuelled by and built on our mission to support pupils in becoming 'Leaders for Tomorrow'. As such our provision for this key area of school life is delivered across several channels which include at the core, our LEAD Curriculum (delivered in the middle of each day at LEAD Time).
Our LEAD Curriculum consists of:
- PSHE Sessions
- A weekly 'Thinkers of Tomorrow' session
- A weekly 'Leader of Self' session
- A year group assembly
Personal Social Health and Economic (PSHE)
This content is delivered in a cumulative sequence across the year groups so that pupils broaden and deepen their understanding of many diverse aspects of life throughout their time at the Academy. In total, pupils receive around one hour of PSHE input per week. Each half term, students are taught a different module within our PSHE scheme of work.
Thinkers of Tomorrow
These sessions occur once a week for pupils. Thinkers of Tomorrow is a lesson that looks at current affairs and encourages pupils to develop an interest and opinion on the going-ons of the world. The discussions are facilitated by House Coaches using a speaking frame. The frame is designed to enable pupils to share their thoughts and arguments in a clear and articulated manner.
Leader of Self
These sessions are centred around reflection. The sessions are designed to prompt pupils to think about the individual they aspire to become and how their current academic and behavioural habits either promote or inhibit that aspiration. It is a data-driven session that culminates in pupils making a specific commitment to make a change the following week.
The breakdown of weekly allocations per year group can be found here.
