Geography
A range of human and physical geography concepts are taught in year 7 which encourage students to develop their geographical awareness and basic geography skills; both on a local, regional and international scale. Students are assessed throughout the year by completing quizzes and GCSE-style exam practice. Topics taught include: The UK & map skills, natural hazards, weather & climate, development, rivers and a case study of Africa.

Topics taught include: climate change, ecosystems, urbanisation, coasts, resource management and a country profile case study.
In Year 9 students study the GCSE AQA Geography specification which is split into the following areas:
- Living with the physical environment
- Challenges in the human environment
- Geographical applications
- Geographical skills
In Year 9 students will cover Paper 1 topics. They will begin by exploring natural hazards. Students then study ecosystems. They will then continue to build their geographical knowledge and skills by studying content on rivers and coasts. Students will be assessed throughout the year by practising exam questions and completing knowledge quizzes.

In the Spring term, students will move on to studying human geography, by undertaking learning on economic development, urban issues and challenges and resource management. Students will be assessed throughout the year by practising exam questions and completing knowledge quizzes.

In Year 11 students will initially cover Paper 2 and 3 topics. They will begin by studying human geography, focusing on economic development, urban issues and challenges and resource management. They will then undertake fieldwork and focus on building their geographical skillset. Furthermore, students will recap the physical geography topics taught. Students will be assessed throughout the year by practising exam questions and completing knowledge quizzes.
